Publication Ethics

UNIBRAH: Journal of Education, Social, and Humanities Studies (JESHS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This publication ethics statement is based on the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Duties of Authors

Authors are expected to:

  • Submit original and unpublished work that is not under consideration by another journal.
  • Ensure that all data presented are accurate, reliable, and obtained through ethical research practices.
  • Properly acknowledge the work of others through appropriate citation and referencing.
  • Avoid plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, and redundant publication.
  • Disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the research.
  • Identify all individuals who have made significant contributions as co-authors and obtain their approval before submission.
  • Promptly notify the editorial office if a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered after publication.

Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Evaluating submitted manuscripts solely on the basis of academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope.
  • Maintaining confidentiality throughout the editorial and peer-review process.
  • Ensuring a fair, unbiased, and timely review process without discrimination.
  • Making publication decisions based on reviewers' recommendations and the quality of the manuscript.
  • Taking appropriate action in cases involving ethical misconduct, plagiarism, or research malpractice.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of submitted manuscripts.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts received for review.
  • Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  • Inform the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical concerns.
  • Decline the review assignment if there is any conflict of interest or insufficient expertise.

Publication Integrity

JESHS does not tolerate any form of publication misconduct, including plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, or unethical research practices. Manuscripts found to violate ethical standards may be rejected, withdrawn, or retracted, depending on the severity of the misconduct.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the evaluation, interpretation, or publication of a manuscript. When a conflict exists, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure an impartial editorial process.

Ethical Oversight

Research involving human participants or animals must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional regulations. Authors should provide evidence of ethical approval when required and ensure that informed consent has been obtained from participants where applicable.

Corrections and Retractions

When significant errors or ethical issues are identified after publication, JESHS will publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
